Hey! Here’s a story: It’s a beautiful, hot, sunny day, you’re sitting at home, watching a boring movie because you have nothing else to do with your life, you’re bored out of your mind. Meanwhile everyone that you know is out hanging with their mates and having the time of their lives! Sad story, eh? Well, the saddest part is that it’s based on a true story. That happens almost everyday. And the main character of the story, is me. But it’s not just me – it could be you. Or your friend. It could be anyone!
Well, if you relate to my sad story, I have some good news for you!

Let me explain, in case you didn’t understand the title of my blog. Basically, here is an idea for a fun & fresh activity you can try – and the beauty of it, is that you can do it even by yourself: Being a Tourist! Or at least acting like one.
With one or a couple of friends this would be more fun, but you can always do it on your own, on any day that you’re free with nothing to do! If it’s sunny, if it’s rainy or even if it’s snowy! If you feel like you know every corner of your home-town, trust me, you’re probably wrong. There’s always plenty of new things to explore! So, put on your Dora hat and go exploring!
First Off, Get Ready
Yes, of course you’re gonna get dressed like every other day – but should you? No, not like any usual day. This is a special day. Of course, you can do as you please, but if I were in your position, I would at least try to look nicer than most days. Why? Well silly, if you want to pretend to be a tourist, then you have to do the main thing tourists do; Take photos! But always make sure you’re comfortable in whatever you are wearing because exploring can get rough!
Preparation
Prepping is another part of getting ready, but this time you’re not getting yourself ready you’re getting your things ready. So yes, pack. Pack as if you were actually going on a trip far away from your home. But you don’t have to pack a big luggage obviously – just bring a simple and cute travel bag, or even something like a hiking bag.

Things you may want to bring with you/pack in your bags:
- Bring sunscreen. Especially if it’s a hot, sunny day, but even if it isn’t, you should still always pack sunscreen. And you should bring sunglasses too.
- Food! Of course, you’re going out so you can always buy food, but believe me, you never want to leave home without bringing a few snacks of your own.
- With food, comes water. Never ever forget the water, you’ll regret it! Bring the biggest water bottle that you can find in your home and you should probably put ice in it as well, unless it’s cold outside.
- A camera! Remember, if you want to make this more exciting and feel like a tourist, don’t forget to bring a camera. If you don’t have a good camera, or none at all, you always have your phone!
- Like I said before, remember to have your phone – you don’t want to get lost, even if it is where you live, you might go places you’ve never seen before, and that’s the best part about exploring! Oh, and with your phone, comes your charger and if you wish, your headphones.
Those were just a few of the main things you should bring, but bring anything else you think you would need.
Exploration-Location
Where would you go, you ask? Well, this is your trip, go anywhere! If you’re still not sure, I’m here to help!

Maybe you wanna go somewhere completely new and different. Well, if so, I have an idea for you! Start off by going on a bus, or walking, or someone dropping you off to a completely random location! Yes, you heard me, somewhere you have no idea about. Do you think Dora the Explorer ever knows where she is? Well, yes she does because she’s a pro, and she has the map! So, don’t worry about getting lost if you have a phone by your side. When you get there, just start exploring! Walk around, go to stores, restaurants, and of course cute places to take pictures at, and if you have a friend there, they can take pics for you and vice versa! Then you can post it on social media and make it seem like you’re on a super exciting vacation having the time of your life! You can also go into forests or something for hiking or adventure walks!
Don’t forget to have fun!!! I hope you found this blog helpful, and tried this out! Make sure to let me know how it went!

Love this blog Aymann! A lot of the times I can relate to that sad story you told, being really bored on beautiful days when I should be doing something else fun! I feel like I have been everywhere in Cambridge and that there’s nothing fun to do anymore because I’ve seen all of it. But as you said I’m probably wrong and there’s probably a lot that I haven’t discovered in Cambridge. As crazy as it seems your advice for someone to just drop you off I’m a random location that I’ve never been to actually seems really fun, because then it’s like your on a fun adventure. I will definitely try that next time I’m bored out of my mind and want to get up and do something fun!
